Assistance
Program directors are a great resource for help on your application.
They would welcome an opportunity to get to know you and your group/project at a grant application workshop.
Staff members make no funding decisions in the major grant programs so they can be a useful and objective source of help as you plan your project and write an application.
Go to our staff page to determine
your program director.
It helps to see what others have done to be successful. There are
books of recent years' grant applications in our office for your
perusal. Your program director can suggest successful applications for you to read. We recommend you call in advance to make sure the office
is open and a staff person is available to guide you toward useful
applications.
Funding process
Grant applications are reviewed by a peer panel of 8 - 10 people.
Applicants are notified of the meeting and are encouraged to attend.
Panelists read all grants and discuss them at the meeting in the
context of the criteria of the grant program. Upon review, the panel
submits its recommendations to the MRAC board of directors, which
makes final funding decisions.
Projects are reviewed based on the information provided in the
application. Work samples are not permitted. Panelists do not make
site visits.
